saturday experiment

Saturdays are the days I like to experiment with new color combinations, patters or shapes. Today, I tried a bold striped maxi. I paired it with this slouchy cardi I bought thrifting the other day. I usually don't like to draw attention with bold colors or patterns, but recently I have been loving the "color blocking" trends, so this is my first baby step into a bright spring and summer to come.

thrifty finds #1 and #2

I found these tops yesterday. I always end up going back to black and white. There is nothing more classic American than black and white with jeans. This is what it looks like when I put my spin on the look. I added an old pair of flairs to the tops for some shape. I am loving the large flairs and ode to the 70's these days. I might have to add a few more pieces to my wardrobe to fully take hold of this trend...

thrifty finds

Today, to celebrate the end of the semester, I went thrifting. I have been getting cravings to go to so many different thrift stores and today I was able to satisfy my need. I found two jackets, one sweater, two shirts, a button down, and one scarf. And get this, it only cost me $20.43! I know. I can't wait to show you these pieces put together in outfits. Stay tuned.

cute kids: from The Sartorialist

How can you ever go wrong, when your sense of fashion starts so young? These adorable kids pull it together so well. The only question I have is how long do they really keep it together? However long, these little guys inspire me to keep it fresh. If a three year old can pull a look together, I have no excuse. I would love to live in a town where all the kids dress like this. It's so adorable.

canary yellow

One of my favorite, yet simple things to bring an outfit together is a scarf. For seasonal transitions from winter to spring or summer to fall or fall to winter, a grab-and-go scarf will do it for me. They can be subtle, or add that pop of color you need. This canary yellow scarf is one of my favorites. It was a gift from India and it has such a rich color tone to it. I love to pair it with navy, so today I added a navy stripe to the mix and brought in a little Parisian inspiration with the black skinny pant.

date night

Last night I was treated to a wonderful date night. I love to dress up for dates and wear light and flowy fabrics to be as girly as I can. Unfortunately it's still bitterly cold here in Michigan so I had to sacrifice. I decided to go with a laid back monochromatic look. It's important for me to feel comfortable on nights out, and grey is my go-to comfort color.  So I wore a loose fit Calvin Klein sweater with fitted leggings and toped it off with (what feels like) a luxurious faux fur vest. To dress it up I added a silk cami and lightly accessorized with feathers, an alligator vintage clutch and some simple jewels.
The night was comfortable, simple, and I got to finally spend some quality time with the man I love. So great!

in my white t

There's nothing like a clean white t-shirt. It's crisp, bright, and simple. I think white t-shirts give off an effortless chic look even with just a simple pair of jeans. I decided to jazz it up a bit with cut-off shorts and textured stockings.  I like to have a looser fit to the tops if I'm going to wear shorts or fitted bottoms. I have a lot of fun playing with white t-shirts. There is so much one can do with them, especially for the spring!

rainy day and coffee

Today I was able to have a mini coffee date with my love. We snuck out of the rain and into Starbucks for a quick latte and some goofy pictures. It's so nice to take 30 minutes out of the day to relax and goof off. Who knew a simple cup of coffee could create so much fun and enjoyment. I bet you did. I read in a magazine spending time together over coffee can improve a relationship. I believe it.

covets

I love this beautiful bag from Banana Republic. It's simple and yet luxurious with the soft buttery leather and perfect square shape. The only question, which color should I buy?

crochet confession

I have a confession... I was not having a good day today. I had a really bad attitude this morning and I need to apologize. I was just not in the mood for anything. Do you ever those days? It could have been the snow I woke up to this morning. Yes, that's right, it was snowing, in April! I officially have a love-hate relationship with Michigan.  So here are just a few photos of my outfit. An outfit I wore to put me in a better mood consist of black basics, a bright lip stick, one big scarf and comfy boots.
