lazy afternoons

One of my favorite simple pleasures are free afternoons. I've been fortunate enough to have a few over the last couple of weeks consisting of hot tea, experimenting with different recipes and catching up on some good catalogues for some more outfit inspiration.
Here are just a few shots from my favorite source of inspiration; the Madewell catalogue:

Who doesn't love an intermission from fashion for little music muse?

Everything looks good with a cupcake

I know this has been out for a while but I have to admit I can't get enough of it! I hope you've been inspired. I love the effortless simplicity and color mixed in the catalogue. A must try for the holidays.

give a little back

Happy Black Friday. In spirits of keeping things simple I thought I would share with you all a great gift idea that consists of something different from more "stuff." I'm sure we all have more than we need already so this year I encourage you to try something different. Instead of shopping all day, week and month think about ways you can give back

The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer is a fun and great gift because it not only looks good on your coffee table but gives back to two brain cancer charities SNOG (Australia) and Headrush (US). This book is full of entertaining pictures of celebrities, models and musicians (great conversation starters). The royalties will go directly to the two charities and their research projects. You are able to give back and make a difference this year with this book. Pre order here!

If brain cancer is not a cause you are interested there are many charities that have other great gift ideas for giving back this year. Find one you are passionate about or have a connection to and let your friends know so they can give back to that cause instead of filling your closet with more stuff or things you don't really need.

home inspiration: Alvhem Mäkleri och Interiör

I've neglected a bit of my home inspiration here. But I found something to share with you all. I hope it's worth the wait.
I came across this beautiful home over seas. The simplicity, clean lines and beautiful porch views have me drooling of jealousy (especially the kitchen). I can't imagine how fun it must be to live in this city. This apartment has amazing light and views of the city I would die for right now. Take a look:

a positive attitude for the week, month, year and on ...

"I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don't want to get to the end, or to tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes. I want to eat cold tangerines and sing out loud in the car with the windows open and wear pink shoes and stay up all night laughing and paint my walls the exact color of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on clean white sheets and throw parties and eat ripe tomatoes and read books so good they make me jump up and down, and I want everyday to make God belly laugh, glad that he gave life to someone who loves the gift."

in the mail

There's something double exciting about ordering things online. The excitement of the find and purchase and days later the excitement of the arrival of a beautiful brown box sitting at the door step. I just received these beauties in the mail yesterday, just in time for Michigan's first snow fall of the season.

Ode to The Man Repeller

One of my favorite style blogs is The Man Repeller. Leandra is a comical writer with an amazing voice and eye for fashion. One of my favorite accessories she has brought to the forefront of style is the "Arm Party."
Here is my take this week. Make sure you check her out here. She's awesome!

Start with a watch (mens inspired) add some sparkle and a few extras.

something to share: courtesy of the Glitter Guide

The Glitter Guide featured Samantha of Could I Have That this week and I just had to share this. She has a great sense of style, decor and everything delicious. Her blog is one of my favorites and I'm so glad we can get a peek inside her home.
Here are just a few of my favorite shots of her and her home. Check out more of her interview at the Glitter Guide.
