Mother's Day

I wanted to take a moment to recognize my wonderful mom. She has been a blessing throughout my life. Always encouraging me and others around her. I see her as the back bone and strength in our family. She is such a strong woman living her life for Christ on a daily level. I have always looked up to her faith and the way she lives it out through her relationships and her actions.
Though there have been tough times in our relationship, I now see that everything she did for me was out of love. It's so nice to have a best friend in my mom. I am truly blessed to have her in my life. I hope you all can take time to appriciate your moms today and let them know how much you love them. Happy Mother's Day

I love you mom!

an evening in the park

One of my basic combinations is black and grey. I love to go to something comfortable and cozy on the weekends. I like to mix things up most of the time and try something daring, but this weekend I went back to my basics.

Eastown Antiques

Some of my favorite things to do on days off are making breakfast and antiquing. Today I got to do both. This morning I made a wonderful garden omelet, if I do say so myself. It's that time of year where the vegetables are fresh and beautiful, I love it! A fruit bowl is also a must have this time of year with every meal. The mix of the vegetables, and fruits convinced me that it is finally spring here in Michigan.

Later in the day Ben and I strolled to Eastown Antiques, a delightful shop in Eastown. This store is full of inspiring fabrics on old furniture, jewels and scarves, vintage clothes and old aprons, and wonderful trinkets. I love the old tresure hunting I am able to do every time I walk into this shop. It's so much fun diving into the store merchandise searching for that little something I didn't know was missing in my life. I thought I would share some of my favorites from my visit today. Enjoy.

favorites from the MET

I love these chic, and glamorous looks from the 2011 MET.

The sequence, feathers, and color will all be inspirations for up coming looks.

a simple meal

One of my favorite snacks to make are homemade sweet potato fries. Tonight I paired the snack with tilapia for my spin on fish 'n chips and toped it off with a salad and strawberry short cake for dessert. A simple meal for a simple night. It's nice to take time and enjoy nights off and spending good time with friends.

sweet potato fries:
slice 1-3 sweet potatoes
cover them with olive oil, sea salt, garlic, and pepper to taste
place on a greased cooking sheet
cook at 375 degrees for 20-30 min. or until crispy
serve hot and freshly sprinkle a little more sea salt
